(Yicai) Dec. 9 -- An industry association in China's Yangtze River Delta region has released a list of recommended new Chinese medical devices for hospitals and other medical institutions in Shanghai and surrounding cities.
The list, unveiled at the inaugural Shanghai International Conference on Digital Medical Innovation and Application Development over the weekend, aims to foster innovation among medical device companies and accelerate technological advancements and functional upgrades.
The Shanghai Yangtze River Delta Medical Device Industry Development Promotion Association, which drew up the list, chose products manufactured in China after Jan. 1, 2020 that have registration certificates, according to Cao Shaoping, deputy head of its medical device application technology committee, which oversaw the selections.
A panel of experts reviewed 218 submissions from 103 companies, picking 86 recommended products from 62 firms and 48 nominated products from 30 businesses.
The recommended list includes large medical devices from leading manufacturers such as United Imaging Healthcare’s medical angiography X-ray machine and Mindray’s Resona R9 series color Doppler ultrasound system, alongside innovative products from tech startups like Shanghai Lishen Scientific Instruments' series of integrated surgical tables.
The list will increase awareness of domestic medical devices among regional hospitals, providing them with a key reference for buying equipment and consumables as well as collaborating with manufacturers on research and development, Cao noted.
Cao told Yicai that the selection process focused on the technological sophistication of the devices and components, with a key criterion being whether the technology is world-leading or between 80 percent and 90 percent of the level.
