(Yicai Global) Aug. 10 -- McDonald's China has rebutted the findings of a US study that claimed that the fast-food chain's burger packaging contains toxic chemicals.
The restaurant chain does not use man-made perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl chemicals in its food packaging and the materials fully meet the Chinese food safety standards, the company said in a statement on Weibo today.
Environmental advocacy groups Toxic-Free Future and Mind the Store wrote in a report published on Aug. 6 that burger containers and wrappers at McDonald's and Burger King had too many PFAs that can cause cancer, liver damage, and decreased fertility.
