(Yicai Global) Jan. 22 -- SF Express and other major Chinese couriers will not stop their services during the Spring Festival holiday from Feb. 4 to 10. They will instead raise their charges to ensure efficiency, the companies said.
SF Express will work all year round, but due to increased demand for delivery, restrictions on resources and other factors, efficiency may vary, the Shenzhen-based company said in a statement today.
It added that it will suspend SF Same-Day Delivery, SF Next Morning Delivery, SF Economy Express and other time-restricted services from Jan. 26. It will resume normal services from Feb. 8. SF Express will charge a minimum of CNY10 (USD1.47) as a resource adjustment fee during the Spring Festival.
Suning Logistics will also stay open and said that it won't raise prices. Zhongtong, Yuantong and Yunda will also be open during the period, and continue to implement the concept of "working all year round." Best Express will enter Spring Festival mode from Feb. 1 (the 27th day of the 12th lunar month) to Feb. 10. Deppon Logistics and STO Express will adopt festival mode from Feb. 1 to 12 and Feb. 4 to 10, respectively.
E-commerce platforms are also providing various ways to help with deliveries and fees during the Spring Festival. The logistics channel for Tmall's supermarket, home appliances, import and other online sales will stay open during the festival, said Cainiao, Alibaba Group Holding's logistic unit. The delivery from Tmall supermarkets and small household appliances will cover more than 400 districts and counties across the country during the period, while the delivery of large appliance on the Cainiao platform will cover nearly 300 districts and counties in 60 cities.
Another e-commerce giant JD.Com, which is offering Spring Festival deals, expects a more stable delivery performance during the promotion season and is banking on smart logistics during this Lunar New Year, the company said. It opened its own express delivery business last October. It will continue delivery services, including economy delivery, express delivery and Jingzunda, a scheduled delivery, during the Spring Festival.
