Magnitude Seven Earthquake Hits Southwest China Magnitude Seven Earthquake Hits Southwest China

(Yicai Global) Aug 8 – A magnitude 7 earthquake jolted the popular Chinese tourist destination of Jiuzhaigou county in southwestern Sichuan province at about 9.19pm on Tuesday, the China Earthquake Networks Centre reports. At least 4 people were killed and 40 wounded in the earthquake, a local news source said.

The quake's epicentre was initially monitored at 33.20 degrees north latitude and 103.88 degrees east longitude, according to Xinhua News.

The quake was also felt in some parts of closing Gansu and Shaanxi provinces.
