(Yicai Global) Nov. 28 -- Chinese lithium battery maker Eve Energy is teaming up with an Israeli firm to start mass producing fast-charging batteries for electric vehicles and smartphones in China.

Huizhou-based Eve penned a deal with battery-making startup StoreDot on Nov. 26, the Chinese firm said in a statement the same day. StoreDot owns an exclusive fast-charging technology that it uses to make cells for cars and electronic devices, like phone, tablets and laptops.

Eve was the first Chinese company dedicated to lithium batteries to go public. Earlier this year, it received a 10-year purchase order from German automotive giant Daimler, the firm behind the Mercedes-Benz brand, for its electric car batteries.

With StoreDot, it plans to carry out product tests before making small amounts of goods using its StoreDot Flash Battery technology, the statement said. The pair also plan to set up a joint venture in China before entering fully fledged mass production.

The two firms will initially use the technology to make batteries for consumer electronics, before extending it to build cells for electric cars, ships, drones and other modes of transport on land, water and air, Eve said.
