(Yicai Global) Nov. 21 -- Chinese PC brand Lenovo Group Ltd. [HK:3396] has overtaken US computer giant Dell Technology. Inc. [NYSE:DVMT] to become the second-largest PC maker in India by shipments in the third quarter, while HP Inc. [NYSE:HPQ] still remains number one, science and technology media Donews cited a quarterly report from market research firm IDC as saying.

The gap between Lenovo and Dell has narrowed continuously over recent quarters, and in the third quarter of this year, the former saw its market share in India break 20 percent for the first time to reach 24.1 percent, surpassing that of Dell.

India's PC shipments rose to 3.03 million in the third quarter, up 72 percent from the second quarter and 20.5 percent annually. HP still tops the list, accounting for a 31 percent share of the country's PC market in the quarter. It registered annual shipment growth of 30.2 percent.

While Dell saw its PC shipments grow by 226 percent compared to the preceding quarter, but still saw an annual decline of 2.6 percent.
