(Yicai Global) June 1 -- China's leading premium liquor producer China Kweichow Moutai Distillery Group has set up a USD450,000 scholarship program at the University of New South Wales Business School in Australia, as part of efforts to cultivate more business leaders in both countries.
University President Ian Jacobs thanked Moutai on behalf of the business school for setting up the scheme, China News Service reported, adding that education is a lifetime gift given to individuals.
The University of New South Wales has made a lot of progress in science and technology, and the natural environment, Zhang Deqin, deputy general manager of Moutai Group said. The university has trained many talented professionals for China.
Zhang believes that the establishment of the Moutai scholarship will promote cooperation between China and Australia in many fields such as personnel training and cultural interactions, further enhancing the friendship between the two peoples and relations overall.
The University of New South Wales is one of eight prestigious universities in Australia and has great influence and appeal across Southeast Asia, Europe, North America and other regions. the Asia-Pacific Weekly has rated the institution as a top ten university in the region for many years.
The university is home to more than 20,000 international students. Since 1978, the institution has gained a reputation for cultivating a large number of Chinese students and the two sides have also benefited from bilateral research and cooperation. The university aims to develop strategic, forward-thinking leaders.
