(Yicai Global) Nov. 8 -- German robotics giant Kuka has showcased its new intelligent and high-end equipment hall model, which integrates mechatronic and digital aspects, for the first time at the inaugural China International Import Expo.
China is a significant market and region, especially in terms of industrial manufacturing automation and robot import, for Kuka, state-backed The Paper reported the Augsburg-based firm's chief executive Till Reuter as saying at the event, which runs until Nov. 10 in Shanghai.
China is also a close partner for Kuka and the country represents the largest market globally for the firm, he said, adding that Kuka identifies itself as China's largest robotics firm.
Kuka maintains a very close relationship with China. Domestic home appliances giant Midea Group became the company's major shareholder in 2016 though Kuka still operates independently.
Reuter has built up a good basic network in China to provide better service to China's industrial robotics, automation and intelligent manufacturing sectors. China has drawn up a five-year blueprint for intelligent manufacturing in the country, which runs to 2020, he added.
KUKA AG needs to cooperate with leading firms in China and Midea Group is a good choice, Reuter said.
