(Yicai Global) June 19 -- China's second-largest e-commerce company JD.Com posted record sales during its mid-year shopping festival promoted as 6.18 sales in reference to June 18 as over 360 million online shoppers took part in the shopping frenzy.

The company received online orders worth CNY159.2 billion (USD24.5 billion) during 18 days of promotional sales from June 1 to June 19, it said today.

With the widespread use of JD Logistics' automation equipment, over 90 percent of self-operated orders achieved either same-day or overnight delivery, reported online portal QQ.com operated by Tencent Holdings.

JD.Com mainly promoted social e-commerce business during the mid-year shopping festival to guide consumers to engage in shopping scenarios through different social network platforms and recommend their own selections to friends. The company introduced nearly 300 interactive methods on social media such as WeChat and QQ.

It joined hands with over 500,000 merchants to promote the activity online and offline and expanded cooperation with traders who operate physical outlets.

Walmart, Yonghui Superstores and CenturyMart on JD Daojia, JD's online premium fresh produce platform, achieved record sales yesterday, the pinnacle of the mid-year shopping festival, compared with sales on ordinary days.
