(Yicai Global) July 18 -- Chinese e-commerce giant JD.Com has appointed Vice President Xin Lijun, also president of its retail and lifestyle services group, as chief executive of newly independent subsidiary JD Health.

Xin will be fully responsible for the subsidiary's strategy, management and business development while retaining his existing positions, Sina Technology reported today. Xin joined JD.Com in October 2012 and has been general manager and president of several of its divisions.

JD Health went independent in May when it secured USD1 billion in funding to become JD.Com's third unicorn subsidiary behind its digital technology and logistics arms. JD Health's main business lines are an online-to-offline pharmacy, a third-party platform for drug wholesaling and web-based hospitals. It also partners with medical institutions to offer information and smart treatment solutions.

JD.Com also appointed rotating CEO Xu Lei as chairman of JD Health. He joined the firm in 2009 and has overseen the e-commerce site's marketing for several years. Xu became chief marketing officer in 2017 and become the group's first rotating CEO in 2018.
