Japan's Omron Healthcare to Deepen Ties With Chinese Firms, China Managing Director Says Japan's Omron Healthcare to Deepen Ties With Chinese Firms, China Managing Director Says

(Yicai) April 11 -- Omron Healthcare will strengthen its strategic relations with partners in China whose service concepts align with its own and jointly promote building a smart healthcare ecosystem, according to the managing director of the Japanese medical devices giant's Chinese arm.

Stable policies and a favorable business environment are crucial for the development of companies, Chen Yixiao told Yicai on the sidelines of the 91st China International Medical Equipment Fair held in Shanghai from April 8 through today.

"We seek sustained and stable future development and that's why we are more determined to invest in the Chinese market," Chen said. "China has a stable supply chain and a mature market, and more importantly, we have witnessed the government's continuous support for the healthcare sector, which is very important for boosting firms' confidence."

The "big health" industry in China -- which encompasses a range of health-related sectors beyond traditional medicine, focusing on preventative care, wellness, and chronic disease management -- is developing rapidly. The "Healthy China 2030" plan of the State Council, the country's cabinet, has set a clear goal for the health sector to top CNY16 trillion (USD2.19 trillion) by 2030.

Since Omron Healthcare entered China, the domestic blood pressure monitors market has reached almost 20 million units, showing great potential, Yamamoto Daisuke, deputy general manager of the Kyoto-based company, previously told Yicai.

"Tariffs impact individual consumers because they will lead to price fluctuations," Chen pointed out.

Omron Healthcare's supply chain spreads worldwide. Some of its products are manufactured at its factories in other countries and exported to the US, so they will likely be affected to varying degrees by the new tariffs.
