(Yicai Global) Oct. 23 -- Annual turnover of China's advertising industry hit CNY600 billion (USD90.66 billion) last year, with the online sector commanding more than half of the market.

The China Advertising Association held the 24th China International Advertising Festival in Changsha, Hunan province on Oct. 21, with a number of technology companies attending to exhibit the advertising applications of emerging technologies, such as Big Data, artificial intelligence, facial recognition and virtual reality, state-owned news agency Xinhua reported.

The industry is becoming more interactive and more accurate through the application of such technologies, said Zhang Guohua, president of the association.

With around a billion active users, companies will be able to divide them into groups of ten million and recognize their profile pictures, understand their intentions and provide personalized text, pictures, videos and language, said Zheng Zibin, vice president at China's internet behemoth Baidu Inc. [NASDAQ:BIDU]

Consumers could only watch ads before, but with the development of intelligent voice technology, they can now interact with advertisements through their smartphones, a manager at voice technology leader Iflytek Co. [SHE:002230] said.

In future, as the Internet of Things, smart homes, wearable devices and robots all develop further, a lot of advertising derivatives will disappear, he added.
