Intel Remains Committed to China Cooperation Despite US Tension Intel Remains Committed to China Cooperation Despite US Tension

(Yicai Global) Sep. 7 -- Intel, the world's biggest chipmaker by revenue, remains committed to developing ties in China regardless of the unfavorable political environment related to the US, a company executive said in a recent interview.

The US firm aims to move forward with collaboration related to artificial intelligence, company Vice-President Zhu Jiehao said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency, adding that algorithms and frameworks are evolving to cover all sectors. Cooperation is key to creating value in the rapidly-changing technology environment, he said.

Zhu believes that Intel is a new challenger in many emerging technologies such as AI and big data. The firm's investment in AI ecosystem is said to have exceeded USD1 billion last year.

There still remains much room for improvement in areas related to these technologies, he said, adding that AI data application is still in its infancy and provides an excellent opportunity for Intel with China as an important partner.

Zhu took Baidu's conversation-based AI platform Dueros as an example, stating that it is more widely used and integrated compared with similar products from Amazon and other enterprises. He expressed amazement at China's speed of technology application and the rise of the digital sector. In contrast, many regions in the US still seem to live in the 1980s, apart from places like Silicon Valley, Boston, and Seattle, he added.

Data and engineers are part of Intel's DNA, he said. The company aims to work with people who are eager to solve problems related to technology, and such people are easy to be found in China, Zhu said.
