(Yicai Global) April 20 -- Following the Covid-19 outbreak in Shanghai last month, more than 50 couriers from the Henan provincial branch of JD Logistics arrived in the city from the province’s capital Zhengzhou on April 15 to help sort and deliver parcels.
Liu Xiaoli, 40, was among them. She began working in Shanghai on April 16 after a Covid-19 test. She starts work at about 7.00 a.m. daily and is busy all day except for mealtimes and short breaks.
Liu’s work group has 17 staff, six of whom hail from Henan. The number has basically been restored to the pre-pandemic level of 18, enough to meet demand.
Liu drops off packages in front of the gate of a locked-down housing compound, which will be later delivered to households by community volunteers.
Liu ferries parcels by bike.
Liu writes the recipient’s unit or building number and room number on each package to help volunteers find the right address.
Liu contacts a client who was very touched to discover she had come to help from another city, and told her to keep safe.
Liu shows Yicai Global the messages she exchanged with another thankful customer.
