(Yicai) Jan. 22 -- Yu Garden, a classical Chinese garden and popular tourist destination in downtown Shanghai, kicked off its lantern show yesterday to celebrate the Lantern Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the lunar year. The show will last 40 days.

A group of artists dressed in traditional Chinese clothes gives a performance during the lantern show’s opening ceremony.

Multiple dragon figures shape a blue and yellow lantern at the heart of Yu Garden. The 2024 lunar year will be the Year of the Dragon.

Visitors on the nine-turn bridge admire the lanterns shaped like fishes, crocodiles, crabs, and other water creatures and plants that fill Yu Garden’s little lake.

Wondered visitors on Yu Garden’s Ninghui road look up to enjoy the hundreds of fish-shaped lanterns that resemble a river.
