(Yicai Global) July 28 -- Several southeastern Chinese cities, including the tourist destination of Xiamen, have suspended work and events as Doksuri, the strongest typhoon in China this year, entered the mainland after Taiwan province.
Doksuri is the second-strongest typhoon to hit Fujian province ever based on data from the Central Meteorological Observatory. Over the next few days, the tropical cyclone is expected to continue moving up north, bringing heavy rains to more than 10 provinces, including Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
No ferries departed from a ferry terminal in Xiamen yesterday as the facility was alerting passengers about the approaching typhoon.
A number of fishing boats were moored at Gaoqi fishing port.
