(Yicai Global) Nov. 17 -- Southeast Asia’s first high-speed railway project, the Jakarta-Bandung line, has successfully carried out its first test voyage.

Technical indicators were good as the line jointly built by China and Indonesia finished its first test trip yesterday. The railway is expected to be put into operation next year.

The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway connects the capital city of the world's largest archipelago state with Indonesia's fourth-largest city, Bandung, slashing the journey duration to around 40 minutes from over three hours with a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

The first train has a sleek design.

Bandung is known for its stunning landscapes, including volcanoes and tea plantations.

Workers and residents gathered to watch the process.
