(Yicai Global) Aug. 26 -- High-rise buildings in Shenzhen’s central business district staged a light show on the evening of Aug. 24 to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, which symbolizes China’s reform and opening-up.
The Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, adjacent to Hong Kong, was set up in August 1980. Over a 40-year period, Shenzhen has been transformed from a small fishing village into a metropolis.
Shenzhen was one of the first four SEZs to implement an opening-up policy. The others are also coastal cities in southern China: Zhuhai near Macau, Shantou and Xiamen.
A total of three pictures were selected.
