(Yicai Global) April 1 -- The area to the west of the Huangpu river in Shanghai, known as Puxi, is locking down from today to April 5 to carry out a new round of mass testing of 16 million people for Covid-19.

The city’s eastern half, called Pudong, has just finished testing its population and its next steps will depend on the results of those tests.

Residents in a neighborhood of Minhang district line up to be tested this morning.

A medical worker takes a swab sample from a child.

Another medical worker helps an elderly woman get her personal information registered online before the Covid-19 test.

Those waiting socially distance by about two meters.

A section of the Middle Ring Road in Hongkou district stands empty as Puxi enters lockdown.
