(Yicai) Feb. 18 -- Demand for Ne Zha 2 merchandise continues to grow as the Chinese animation smashes more and more box office records, with some items likely out of stock until June.
Pop Mart's Ne Zha 2 blind box figurines, popcorn buckets, magnets, gold bracelets, and other merchandise have become incredibly popular among Chinese consumers. On Feb. 13, the film became the first in China's history to draw over 200 million cinema viewers.
Ne Zha 2 entered the top 10 movies by worldwide box office gross after raking in more than CNY12.1 billion (USD1.7 billion) as of yesterday, according to data from ticketing platform Lighthouse Pro. Its records also include becoming the second-highest-grossing animation ever, being USD40 million shy of Inside Out 2, the first Chinese film to exceed CNY10 billion at the box office, and the first flick with takings of over USD1 billion in a single market.
