(Yicai Global) Nov. 17 -- Six young Chinese designers brought 60 haute couture suits that combine Eastern and Western styles to a menswear fashion show at the Bund, Shanghai’s famed riverfront promenade.
Called Meilanzhuju, which means plum, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum in Chinese, last night’s show was part of the 10th Shanghai New Customization Week that kicked off on Nov. 12.
The SNCW is an effort by the Shanghai International Fashion Federation to enhance the city’s soft power, connect talents, platforms, and capital, and contribute to the globalization of Eastern aesthetics in the international fashion industry, said Xu Xiaoliang, co-chief executive of Chinese conglomerate Fosun International and president of the SIFF.
Models walked the runway with accessories from local Chinese brands such as luxury jewelry designer Laomiao and watchmaker Seagull under Shanghai Yuyuan Tourist Mart Group.
