(Yicai) Aug. 12 -- The Chinese athletes who competed at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris won 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze medals, the second most in the country's history after Beijing 2008 and since its first full appearance at the Los Angeles games in 1984.
In the full medals table of the Paris Olympics that ended yesterday, China ranked second behind the United States, with the two countries tying in first place for gold medals. The US won 126 medals, compared with China’s 91.
Some 404 Chinese athletes took part in the games.
