(Yicai Global) Oct. 13 -- Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, wants to benefit global Fintech development by leveraging online payment systems, exemplified by the success of Alipay, their operator Ant Financial's press department revealed.

Lagarde invited Chen Long, the company's chief strategic officer to discuss with world regulators and bankers in an exclusive meeting during the IMF annual conference on Oct. 11.

Chen Long talked of the transformation of banking and payment with Lagarde and governors of central banks. Lagarde feels very positive about financial technology innovation and emphasises that all fintech sector players need to cooperate to adapt to changes brought about by online payment, Ant Financial's press release said.

Lagarde has previously praised China's achievement in mobile payment. She said the regulators' policies let China's fintech industry be advantageous to the rest of the world, during the global One Belt, One Road summit in Beijing this May.

The IMF conducted a High-Level Advisory Group on fintech in April. Chen Long is one of the members which included CEOs and CSOs from market players such as Boston-based Circle, San Francisco-based Chain, and New York-based Digital Asset.
