(Yicai Global) Oct. 25 -- Ossur, an Icelandic maker of prostheses, intends to join the China International Import Expo for the third time this year with its advanced prosthetic hand.
The leading global manufacturer of non-invasive equipment for orthopedics will display its i-Limb Quantum Bionic Hand and several other products during the trade fair in Shanghai in early November, The Paper reported today.
"We hope to help more amputees regain their self-confidence and let them know that they are not alone through the exhibition," an employee said. Reykjavik-headquartered Ossur will have its booth in the rehabilitation and elderly care area in the section of medical equipment, medicine, and healthcare in the enterprise exhibition.
The i-Limb Quantum Bionic Hand is a myoelectric hand that offers different types of grips. It is designed for people with amputated forearms to allow them to do tactile moves such as lifting big boxes, cracking eggs, unwrapping delicate foods, or picking strawberries.
Ossur’s i-Limb Quantum Bionic Hand has many users in China, the company said. Its first Chinese user is Chen Yuting, who lives in Shanghai and got the product -- in addition to other things -- to be able to help comb her daughter’s hair every day.
Zhang Yilong, Ossur’s upper limb ambassador in China, had his forearms amputated. With bionic hands, he has been able to raise geese and plant trees, and he registered to become a volunteer for the early Covid-19 pandemic control in 2020.
Ossur has a portfolio of pioneering prostheses including Rheo Knee XC, an advanced microprocessor knee, and Proprio Foot, a microprocessor ankle for low to moderately active amputees.
