Hyperloop's First Ultra-High-Speed Freight Line to Be Ready by 2020

(Yicai Global) July 19 -- Hyperloop One, the US start-up that has taken the lead in super high-speed rail, is to complete construction of the first freight Hyperloop line in 2020 and the first passenger line in 2021, according to Vice President George O'Neal.

So far four Chinese companies have shown interest in building a super high-speed railway in partnership with Hyperloop One and have presented feasibility reports on route selection and profit models.

The concept of the Hyperloop was first proposed by tech geek Mr. Elon Musk, founder of electric carmaker Tesla Motors Inc., who postulated that an 'aluminum capsule' could be launched like a bullet inside a giant vacuum tube. The capsule can travel at 1,200 kilometers an hour, twice as fast as an airplane. Although Mr. Musk might have come up with the idea, he is not affiliated with Hyperloop One.
