(Yicai Global) May 12 -- Huolala said it had nothing to disclose following a media report that claimed the Chinese truck-hailing services provider has started its own vehicle production project, The Paper reported.
Shanghai-based Huolala has already kicked off the project and is hiring staff to manufacture new energy trucks, online tech media 36Kr reported earlier today.
Founded in 2013, Huolala offers intra- and cross-city transport and logistics for businesses and individuals as well as auto rentals and aftermarket services. Operating in 363 Chinese cities as of last month, it has 580,000 monthly active drivers and 7.6 million monthly active users.
In December, the firm said it had raised USD515 million in an E-round fundraiser led by Sequoia Capital China. Hillhouse Capital Group and Shunwei Capital also took part. Founder and Chief Executive Zhou Shengfu said the funds would be used for logistics innovation, developing multiple business categories, and ongoing investment in digitization.
