(Yicai Global) March 24 -- Huawei Technologies has unveiled its latest flagship handsets and said that autos under Aito, the electric car brand it co-launched with Seres Group, will support the Chinese telecoms giant's updated advanced driver assistance systems, or ADAS, from next month.
Shenzhen-based Huawei debuted its new flagship smartphone series, the P60, and the foldable screen model, the Mate X3, priced from CNY4,488 (USD656) and CNY12,999 (USD1,899), respectively, at a launch event yesterday.
The P60 series is the industry leader for the amount of light getting through the camera lens, which is 191 percent greater than that of Apple's iPhone 14 Pro Max, said Executive Director Richard Yu. The Mate X3 has reduced thickness and weight, and it is waterproof and more durable, he added.
The P60 series and Mate X3 models are equipped with the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System's communication function, which allows the sending and receiving of messages without a ground network connection.
All Aito-branded models will have their in-car systems upgraded to Huawei's HarmonyOS 3, Yu, who also heads Huawei's intelligent automotive solution business unit, noted at the event.
From next month, Seres’ Aito 5 will be equipped with Huawei's ADAS 2.0, which does not rely on high-precision maps and brings an "unprecedented" smart driving experience, Yu said. Collecting data for highly accurate maps is expensive and cannot be popularized on a big scale as road conditions constantly change, he added.
Many carmakers’ products would not meet the criteria to leave production plants under Huawei's quality standards, but they are being shipped out in large quantities, Yu pointed out.
