(Yicai) April 11 -- Huawei Technologies and Chery Automobile said they have begun mass deliveries of the new Luxeed model, after overcoming various difficulties.
The Luxeed S7 hit supply difficulties after being launched due to chip shortages and plant relocation, but these have been overcome, Yu Chengdong, chairman of Huawei’s smart auto solutions business unit, said at a press conference today.
The electric sedan is priced at between CNY249,800 and CNY349,800 (USD34,500 and USD48,300) and is equipped with Huawei’s advanced driver assistance system.
The Luxeed brand is a priority for Chery, and the company has set up an independent division to develop it, led by the heads of research and development and manufacturing, Chairman Yin Tongyue told reporters.
Yin, a 40-year veteran of the auto industry, said that he and Yu get in touch online once a week and offline once a month. He added that Huawei is indispensable to China making quality vehicles, and the country needs the support of Huawei’s HarmonyOS to develop from a big auto country into a strong auto country.
Huawei and Seres Group’s Aito M9 model notched up 70,000 orders in the three months after launch, and Aito M7 orders surpassed 174,000 in seven months after its debut, Yu disclosed at the briefing.
More than 4,000 apps have joined the HarmonyOS ecosystem, which is a big step forward compared with a little more than 200 apps in early January, Yu said, adding that the firm will hold its HDC.Cloud annual developer conference in June.
In addition, Huawei unveiled its MateBook X Pro laptop today, but did not release its flagship phone, the P70, which had been expected.
