(Yicai Global) Oct. 13 -- Huawei Technologies has appointed new heads of its two main business groups, according to a company source, to fill vacancies after Ryan Ding, their former chief and deputy chairman of the Chinese tech giant’s supervisory board, died at the age of 53 last week following a sudden illness.

David Wang, chairman of the board for ICT infrastructure, has been given the additional post of president of Huawei’s enterprise business group, with Li Peng becoming president of its carrier business group, an insider at the Shenzhen-based company told Yicai Global.

Li, who has previously been in charge of Huawei's overseas carrier business, has also served as president of Huawei Western Europe and Southern Africa, according to public information. Wang has also worked overseas as president of technical sales in Europe and managing director of Huawei Italy and Switzerland.

More than 60 percent of Huawei’s revenue comes from the two divisions. In the first half of this year, the carrier business group’s income rose 4 percent to CNY142.7 billion (USD19.9 billion) from a year earlier, while that from the enterprise business group jumped 27 percent to CNY54.7 billion (USD7.6 billion).
