Huawei and Sanchuan Will Install 100,000 Smart Water Meters by Next Year

(Yicai Global) Oct. 13 -- A smart water meter developed by Jiangxi province-based manufacturer Sanchuan Wisdom Technology Co. [SHE:300066] in cooperation with communications giant Huawei Technologies Co. is now poised for commercial release.

100,000 smart meters are projected to be installed, debugged and put into online application by the end of next June.

The company had successively installed 20,000 smart water meters in Yingtan, Jiangxi province by the end of September. Sanchuan Wisdom Technology touted its achievements and said it planned to complete online application of another 45,000 smart water meters by the end of next January at a press conference yesterday. That number is scheduled to reach 100,000 as of the end of next June.

The smart meter features a technology of Narrow Band Internet of Things (IOT). The technology is competitive in its extensive coverage, low power consumption and cost and high security, and is suitable for long-distance IOT business, Sanchuan Wisdom Technology stated.

Sanchuan Wisdom Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei in December 2015, when the two companies embarked on joint research and development of smart water meters. The product debuted last February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. It subsequently passed overseas organization testing and piloted in Australia.

Sanchuan Wisdom Technology selected Yingtan City as its domestic smart water meter pilot city. The company will continue to promote the product nationwide. It has thus far received preliminary statements of interest for over 200,000 orders.
