Hong Kong Remained World's Fourth-Largest Forex Market in April

(Yicai Global) Sept. 17 -- Hong Kong was the fourth-biggest foreign exchange market in the world in April, according to data published today by the special administrative region's government.

Average daily turnover of forex transactions in the SAR was USD632 billion in April, up 44.8 percent from USD436.6 billion the same month three years earlier, the figures show. Forex swaps rose 51.2 percent over the same period to USD417.2 billion, while spot transactions increased 22 percent in value to USD111.7 billion.

The most active currency pair over the three years was Hong Kong dollar-US dollar trade, which surged by 164.6 percent to USD142.3 billion in April.
