(Yicai Global) Sept. 11 -- The National Development and Reform Commission and the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will jointly promote a Belt and Road cooperation mechanism and study, draft, and sign arrangement documents on supporting Hong Kong's full participation in the Belt and Road's construction, said Ning Jizhe, deputy director of China's NDRC.
"We support Hong Kong's effort to link Belt and Road construction with Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area construction and to make the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area an important support base for Belt and Road Construction," Ning said in his keynote address at the Belt and Road Summit Forum in Hong Kong on Monday.
The central government supports Hong Kong's endeavor in developing high-added-value shipping business and establishing an important traffic hub and trade logistics center for the Maritime Silk Road, he said.
The country supports Hong Kong's exploration into new financing models such as public-private partnerships and encourages all social capital, including Hong Kong corporate capital, to participate in Belt and Road construction and create diverse low-cost financing channels, he said.
The NDRC approves of Hong Kong's construction of an Asia-Pacific international law and dispute resolution service center as well as its efforts to provide professional support services for Belt and Road construction, including investment environment and risk evaluation and legal services, Ning said.
The central government appreciates Hong Kong's role in converging Chinese and Western cultures and its work in developing characteristic tourism oriented towards Belt and Road countries and in promoting exchanges and cooperation with those countries, Ning said.
