Hong Kong Disneyland to Introduce WeChat Pay for Chinese Mainland Visitors Hong Kong Disneyland to Introduce WeChat Pay for Chinese Mainland Visitors

(Yicai Global) May 25 -- The Walt Disney Company will introduce WeChat Pay services at its Hong Kong resort following an agreement for Tencent Holdings Ltd. to become the entertainment giant's official mobile payment partner in the special administrative region.

Visitors from China's mainland will be able to pay with WeChat at over 280 locations within the resort, covering food, accommodation, entertainment and shopping, the firm said in a statement.

Hong Kong Disneyland hopes the cooperation will bring more convenience for visitors, said the resort's chief executive Samuel Lau, adding that the park aims to leverage WeChat's online presence to reach out to more potential visitors.

Visitors can use WeChat Pay to cover all facilities and services in the resort, including purchasing tickets, renting baby strollers, storing baggage, and paying for meals.

The agreement is part of Tencent's efforts to promote the globalization of mobile payments, said the Shenzhen-based firm's Vice-President Zhang Ying, adding that Hong Kong Disneyland was the first amusement park to be covered by WeChat Pay outside China.
