(Yicai Global) July 19 -- Dutch firm Bunge Loders Croklaan has opened a new edible oils processing factory in Xiamen, Fujian province to better meet the Chinese food industry's increasing demand for vegetable oils and fats.

BLC is the edible oils business of Bunge, a world leader in agriculture, food and ingredients. The new facility will enable the Dutch firm to supply China's expanding market and other customers around the world, the firm said in a statement on its website yesterday, without giving details about financing or plant capacity.

Fujian is well known as home to some of China's best-known confectionery and bakery brands. The new plant will allow BLC to provide local industries with the core ingredients needed for products such as bread, cake and infant nutrition.
