HNA Group Confirms Talks to Sell Ingram Micro HNA Group Confirms Talks to Sell Ingram Micro

(Yicai Global) Dec. 25 — HNA Technology, a unit of China's HNA Group, confirmed yesterday that it is in talks to sell Ingram Micro, one of the world's leading information technology distributors.

No agreement has been reached yet, nor have the relevant internal decision-making procedures been carried out with the whole process still in its infancy, HNA Technology said in a statement yesterday.

California, US-based Ingram Micro is the world's largest IT product distributor and supply chain service provider. It distributes desktops, laptops, motherboards, and central processing units etc. HNA Group acquired 100 percent stake in Ingram Micro for USD6 billion in cash via a unit of HNA Technology in December 2016 and Ingram Micro became HNA Group's logistics supply chain management business.

HNA Group, which is mainly engaged in the aviation business, has been suffering from shortage of funds recently and has begun selling some non-core assets it had acquired in a global asset-buying spree over the past few years. There had been rumors from time to time that HNA intended to sell Ingram Micro, which were dismissed by HNA.

HNA Group has sold a total of nearly CNY300 billion (USD43.6 billion) of non-core assets, the Hainan Daily, which is backed by the Hainan province government, reported.

Ingram Micro operates in 100-plus countries in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific. Its revenue in the Asia Pacific region accounts for over 20 percent of total and that in China reached 5.4 percent in 2015, according to public information.
