Hikvision to Open Its AI Platform to Outside World to Develop Better Security Systems Hikvision to Open Its AI Platform to Outside World to Develop Better Security Systems

(Yicai Global) March 30 -- China's leading supplier of video surveillance products and solutions Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co. will open its artificial intelligence development platform to the outside world to allow more software developers to work on it, said Hu Yangzhong, the company's president, today.

Hikvision realized that opening its platform will allow its AI cloud computing system to connect more vendor's algorithms and develop more products, Hu said in a speech at the 2018 AI Cloud World Summit in Hangzhou, the eastern Zhejiang province, today.

Hikvision released its AI cloud system last October, which can be applied to various types of company products and solutions to improve security systems' visual accuracy, image transmission capability and responsiveness.

The company's AI cloud system is used in such areas as emergency management, public services, urban operations and transport across China. Hikvision helped Suqian city, the eastern Jiangsu province, to set up a facial recognition system for pedestrians crossing streets, which has reduced the red traffic light violations by 90 percent.

As of the end of last June, Hikvision had more than 25,000 employees, including over 10,000 research and development personnel, the company said. It has five R&D centers in China as well as research institutes in Montreal, Canada, and Silicon Valley in California, the U.S.
