(Yicai Global) Dec. 3 -- The University of Hong  Kong and Harvard University have joined hands to jointly develop an  instrumentation lab for precision medicine in the special administrative  region.

The facility, located at Hong Kong Science Park,  will use microfluids and other technologies to develop instruments for  diagnostics, drug delivery and biosensors, HKU said in a statement.

The two parties have agreed a memorandum of  understanding, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam said, adding that  Hong Kong is committed to attracting world-leading research institutes  to work with the local players on exchanges and cooperation.

The emerging precision medicine sector will develop  personalized healthcare through tech innovation, which is expected to  bring breakthroughs in diagnosis, treatment plans, drug development,  medical instrumentation and other areas.
