(Yicai Global) Dec. 3 -- The University of Hong Kong and Harvard University have joined hands to jointly develop an instrumentation lab for precision medicine in the special administrative region.
The facility, located at Hong Kong Science Park, will use microfluids and other technologies to develop instruments for diagnostics, drug delivery and biosensors, HKU said in a statement.
The two parties have agreed a memorandum of understanding, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam said, adding that Hong Kong is committed to attracting world-leading research institutes to work with the local players on exchanges and cooperation.
The emerging precision medicine sector will develop personalized healthcare through tech innovation, which is expected to bring breakthroughs in diagnosis, treatment plans, drug development, medical instrumentation and other areas.
