Hangzhou Approves Plan to Add Four High-Speed Rail Stations, Seven New Lines

(Yicai Global) Oct. 12 -- The municipal government of Hangzhou, the capital of China’s eastern Zhejiang province, has approved a plan drawn up by China Railway Siyuan Survey and Design Group Co., a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corp. Ltd. [SHA:601186;HKG:1186], to build four new high-speed railroad stations and seven high-speed lines in the city, China Securities reported today.

Upon completion, the total number of high-speed train terminals and lines in Hangzhou will increase to six and eleven, respectively, making the city more connected than other transport hubs in the Yangtze River Delta, like Shanghai, Nanjing and Hefei.

Hangzhou is currently connected to many cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, said He Zhigong, deputy chief engineer at China Railway Siyuan Survey. The project will facilitate high-speed rail connections between the Hangzhou and Nanjing, Hefei and six other destinations, reducing travel times for customers.
