(Yicai Global) Nov. 7 -- US action camera maker GoPro is in talks with China government over the possible exemption of the company from the government's plans for tariffs against US imports

Although the trade spat has not affected GoPro yet, CEO Nick Woodman told Yicai Global in an exclusive interview, he indicated that China-side tariffs could put the firm's local operations in jeopardy.

China rolled out plans earlier this month to slap tariffs on an additional USD60 billion of US imports after President Trump sanctioned tariffs against some USD200 billion of Chinese goods.

GoPro's equipment manufacturing operations are based in China and Woodman did not rule out ceasing production in the country if the trade tensions persist, adding that the company's suppliers are also mostly China-based.
