(Yicai) Jan. 13 -- Chint Electric views the world’s energy shift and the electrification of developing countries as major growth opportunities, according to the president of the Chinese supplier of smart energy solutions and low-voltage electrical appliances.

Sixty percent of developing nations have inadequate electricity supplies, offering vast development potential, Zhang Zhihuan said in a recent interview with Yicai. Chint has helped bridge the supply gap in these countries by building solar power stations in remote areas and providing systematic energy solutions, he added.

“The global energy transition and the push for electrification in developing countries present significant opportunities for us,” Zhang noted.

In addition to constructing solar plants, Wenzhou-based Chint offers comprehensive solutions, including power transmission and maintenance services, he said.

Chint's power transformers have been exported to 129 countries and regions worldwide, serving 129 power generation companies, Zhang said. For example, the company has delivered hundreds of such devices to Pakistan.

Solar farms are a fast-growing business segment for Chint. To date, it has participated in building photovoltaic power plants in more than 40 countries, completing nearly 700 projects globally. In the first half of last year, the segment accounted for over half of Chint's revenue, and the total capacity of the company's self-owned power plants exceeded 17 gigawatts, according to its semi-annual trading report.

In the face of global climate change, Chint is also working to achieve zero-carbon and green production across its manufacturing facilities. "From a positive perspective, the global trade decarbonization rules have created another form of competitive advantage for Chint," Zhang pointed out.

According to the company’s website, Chint is "seizing new opportunities in global energy transformation.” It aims to integrate deeply into the global renewable energy supply chain and build an ecosystem encompassing power generation, storage, transmission, transformation, distribution, sales, and consumption.
