(Yicai Global) Nov. 6 -- Top government officials, leading academics, business leaders and technical experts will gather in Shanghai tomorrow for an important forum on setting the standards for the global digital economy and enhancing regulation of e-trade and cross-border data flows as digitalization transforms the world.
The 4th China-Singapore Trade in Services Innovation Forum, hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and organized by the Suzhou Municipal People’s Government and Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee, is a heavyweight discussion on the digital economy, trade in services and e-trade rules with the theme “Digital Empowerment, Create the New Pattern of High-Level Opening-up in Trade in Services.”
The forum comes at a time when China is applying to join the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement that Singapore, Chile and New Zealand signed last June. This is the first stand-alone agreement in the field of international digital trade and is in line with China’s goal of deepening domestic reforms and expanding high-level opening-up to the outside world, the Ministry of Commerce said earlier.
Kicking things off at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, Jiang Xiaojuan, member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, dean of the School of Public Policy & Management of Tsinghua University and former deputy secretary-general of the State Council, will give a speech on “Digital Empowerment for the Development of Trade in Services.” This will be followed by Chi Fulin, president of the China Institute for Reform and Development, who will talk about “High-level Opening-up in China’s Trade in Services.”
Next, Qian Bin, vice president of Bank of Communications, will share his view on artificial intelligence and digital transformation in the field of trade in services. Li Tao, vice president of Philips Greater China, will talk about “Industry Chain Restructuring and Improvement of Multinational Enterprises under the New Development Pattern” and Wei Zhe, founding partner and chairman of Vision Knight Capital, will discuss “CEO Systematic Capacity Improvement in the Digital Economy Era.”
Yang Yudong, editor-in-chief of Yicai Media Group, will attend a roundtable brainstorming the “Vision under the New Pattern of Shanghai-Suzhou Integrated Development: Digital Technology Rebuilding the Global Industrial Chain.”
The Suzhou Industrial Park will give full play to the open platform function of the pilot free trade zone, promote the institutional opening up of digital fields, create a first-class trade environment, strengthen the new digital infrastructure, support companies to expand overseas, innovate and develop new business models and provide a good environment for the development of e-commerce firms, Shen Mi, secretary of the Party Working Committee of the park, said at the signing ceremony for digital trade cooperation held on Sept. 9.
