(Yicai Global) Sept. 4 -- Chemetall, a brand of Germany's BASF, has started building its largest surface treatment project in eastern China's Dushan Port Economic Development Zone of Pinghu to tap into demand across multiple segments in China.

Chemetall's plant will meet the growing needs of BASF's customers for high-quality surface treatment products in China, Christophe Cazabeau, senior vice president of surface treatment at BASF, said in a statement the Ludwigshafen-headquartered parent released yesterday, without disclosing the size of the investment. The project is expected to enter operation in the first quarter of 2021.
