(Yicai Global) Nov. 3 -- German companies taking part in the fifth China International Import Expo, to be held from Nov. 5 to Nov. 10, are confident in the Chinese market.
The industry equipment exhibition sector of this year’s German delegation features 11 top German firms, with their exhibition booths covering a total area of over 750 square meters, according to statistics from the German Chambers of Commerce Worldwide Network China, also known as AHK China.
Many German enterprises continue to support and believe in the Chinese market against the backdrop of geopolitical uncertainties, Pan Hua, chief representative of the Hamburg Liaison Office China in Shanghai, told Yicai Global. Clean energy, circular economy, carbon peaking and neutrality, life sciences, artificial intelligence, and intelligent transportation are all fields in which Chinese and German companies can have in-depth cooperation, she added.
“German firms are excited to be part of China’s development, as many of them have benefited from previous participation at the expo,” Jens Hildebrandt, executive director of the German Chamber of Commerce for North and Northeast China region, told Yicai Global.
170-year-old printing machine maker Heidelberger Druckmaschinen will participate in the CIIE for the first time this year, while companies such as Forklift producer Jungheinrich, shipbuilding giant Hapag-Lloydworld, renowned piano brand Steinway & Sons, and Hamburg Liaison Office China, on behalf of the Port of Hamburg, will attend the expo for the fifth time, Pan said.
“The CIIE booth of Liaison Office has grown to 54 sqm from nine sqm over the past five years, and our visitors have increased both in quantity and quality,” Pan noted. She hopes the expo will help attract more Chinese clients to use the Port of Hamburg, the largest port in Germany and the biggest sea-railway transport port in Europe.
“The CIIE is a great platform for companies in the transport and logistic industry to show themselves, and an important place for the Port of Hamburg to meet with Chinese business partners and potential clients,” Axel Mattern, chief executive officer and director of Port of Hamburg Marketing, said in an online interview with Yicai Global, as he will not be able to join this year’s expo in person.
The CIIE has made good return for the German companies, they signed with their Chinese clients over USD16.9 billion worth of deals during last year’s CIIE, data from AHK China showed.
China is still a good investment destination as Germany’s investment in China soared to a record high of EUR10.1 billion (USD9.9 billion) in the first half of the year, according to statistics from Germany’s central bank.
