(Yicai Global) April 11 -- Chinese game engine developer Cocos has raised USD50 million in its B-series fundraising round, which it will use to improve its core technologies, online tech news outlet 36Kr reported today.
The investors that participated in this funding round include CCB Trust, an affiliate of state-owned China Construction Bank, Chinese audio services firm Agora, and GGV Capital, a venture capital firm focusing on the US and Asia, according to 36Kr.
Following this round of financing, Beijing-based Cocos said it aims to facilitate the further integration of its engines with games, automobiles, education, home design and building projects, adding that it will keep investing profits in the expansion of application scenarios and ecology development.
Founded in 2011, Cocos focuses on developing game engines for mobile terminals. Its products have been used to create well-known games such as Fantasy Westward Journey, developed by Chinese tech titan NetEase, and Clash of Kings, developed by Beijing-based game studio Elex.
Cocos said it now has 1.5 million registered developers, 300,000 of whom are active monthly users.
Cocos’ previous round of fundraising was the A-series round that took place in August 2018, which was led by Shanghai-based Greenwoods Investment. That round gave the company a corresponding valuation of USD120 million.
