(Yicai Global) March 14 -- Hangzhou Simimage Technology Co., provider of full-body security scanning and imaging technology, has obtained CNY68 million (USD10.7 million) in its angel round of financing, which will be used for team building, factory production expansion and technology improvement, online news outlet Leiyunwang reported.
Shaanxi Xiandao Photoelectric Integrated Technology Investment Partnership and Bokang Holdings Group Co. participated in this round of funding.
The signal intensity generated from scanning with Simimage's first millimeter wave full body inspection system with three-dimensional imaging is only one thousandth of the power of a mobile phone, and it only takes three seconds at the fastest pace to finish security inspection of a person, claimed Wu Liang, CEO of Hangzhou Simimage.
The imaging system developed by Simimage can rapidly and effectively detect the position and size of a metal or non-metal prohibited article hidden below clothes without contact, Wu added.
The company's full-body security inspection system was used at the Hangzhou South Bus Station during the 2016 G20 Hangzhou Summit, attracting clients from Russia, Malaysia and some other countries, he said.
Simimage plans to raise up to CNY20 million in pre-A round of financing through sale of 5 percent to 10 percent of shares, the firm said. It will invest new funds in automatic object identification, collection of biological feature data, international certification test, and research and development of radio frequency and artificial intelligence chips.
