Fudan University, Tencent to Build Smart Hospital in Shanghai

(Yicai Global) Nov. 22 -- Affiliated Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University, a well-known hospital in Shanghai, will build a smart specialized hospital through cooperation with Tencent Holdings Limited [HKG:0700] to enhance the internal operation efficiency of hospitals and medical joint ventures and the patient-oriented medical service capability and efficiency. Both parties will also cooperate and explore in the field of AI + medical treatment in the future, chinanews.com reported.

Both signed a contract in Shanghai yesterday. They will use Tencent's advantageous resources in the fields of social networking, Tencent cloud and mobile payment to cooperate in such fields as WeChat public account, WeChat medical insurance payment and WeChat commercial insurance payment, and set up special WeChat public account and applets to provide better and more humanized medical experience for patients.

Both parties will also make use of Tencent's medical AI platform to integrate AI with medical treatment. The AI platform already has the ability to assist screening for diseases such as esophageal cancers, gastric cancers and lung cancers. In the future, both parties will also make related researches on secondary screening for cervical cancers, breast cancers and other diseases.

In addition, both parties will collaborate in the fields of online counseling and electronic prescription circulation to create an online communication and consultation platform for patients and doctors, and electronic prescriptions will be more convenient for patients.
