(Yicai Global) June 27 -- Wuhan Jingce Electronic Technology will invest CNY3 billion (USD436 million) to construct an industrial base for electronic product testing equipment to raise its output to meet market demand.

Jingce penned a project framework deal with the Optoelectronic Information Industry Park in Wuhan yesterday, the leading Chinese flat panel display testing equipment maker announced in a statement the same day.

The Wuhan-based firm also said the project will include a base for research and development and a production facility for testing equipment for FPDs, semiconductors and new energy devices, per the statement, which offered no further details of the project.

The company thereby plans to localize core technologies for three types of special testing equipment.

Jingce numbers Beijing-based Internet of Things and semiconductor display developer BOE Technology Group, South Korea's Samsung Group, Japan's Sharp, Guangdong-based China Star Optoelectronics Technology and Taiwan-based Hon Hai Precision Industry -- better known as Foxconn -- among its customers.

Many optical communications, laser, integrated circuit, mobile internet and software technology developers are clustered at the Optoelectronic Information Industry Park in Wuhan, the capital of  central China's Hubei province, so the firm is setting up shop in the middle of its market.
