(Yicai Global) Nov. 4 -- Hon Hai Precision Industry, also known as Foxconn Technology Group, is recruiting a large number of workers to meet the demand for iPhones during peak season.
Foxconn is offering CNY21 (USD3) per hour from now until Jan. 31 and CNY19 per hour from Feb. 1 to new hourly workers to produce, assemble, and test iPhones at its Shenzhen plant, according to a recruitment announcement of the Apple supplier.
Foxconn confirmed to Yicai Global that it is also hiring at its Zhengzhou factory, as Securities Times reported earlier today, but it did not specify the hourly salary amount, which allegedly increased to CNY65 from CNY30 this peak season from the previous one, according to Shanghai Securities News.
The job post was published after Foxconn’s Zhengzhou plant, the main iPhone manufacturing base, was affected by a Covid-19 outbreak. According to a worker, the factory has only seven of the 10 production lines operational.
The Taiwan-based company is willing to hike investment in recruiting and keeping existing personnel because it is a peak production period, and there is a great demand for workers, industry insiders noted.
New workers at the Zhengzhou plant who remain for three months and meet the attendance standard will receive a potential basic salary plus bonus of CNY18,600 (USD2,570), a CNY8,000 (USD1,100) increase from the previous peak season.
A work team settled at the factory to implement a series of epidemic containment measures, including the deployment of mobile testing vehicles and medical resources, and closed-off management of commuting workers, the local authorities in Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, where the factory is located, said yesterday.
“There are no severe cases for now, and production at the Zhengzhou plant is normal,” said Sun Jiange, the official in charge. The government provided Foxconn with masks, disinfectant wipes, and medicine.
