(Yicai Global) July 19 -- Four Chinese citizens have died and eight others have been hospitalized as a bus with 21 Chinese tourists aboard flipped over on its side on a busy mountain highway in south-central Vietnam nearby Nha Trang.
The injured were taken to Khanh Hoa's General Hospital for emergency treatment after the accident yesterday, provincial authorities announced. Besides Chinese passengers, the coach also had two Vietnamese tour guides and a bus driver.
An industry professional said to Yicai Global that the Chinese travel agency needs to send staff to the neighboring country to take care of legal and safety affairs and help those involved in medical care and insurance. Moreover, the passengers should have their visas extended and possibly arrange for their family members to rush to the site.
Chinese tourists tend to buy travel accident insurance when going overseas. If the travel agency is found to be accountable, liability insurance will also play a role in the aftermath. Moreover, a global travel SOS platform, launched by a Chinese travel agency, offers related emergency services such as translation and search for missing items.
Vietnam hosted 975,000 overseas tourists in June, up 6.4 percent from a month earlier, per the national tourism authority. China is the second-biggest source country of travelers after South Korea.
