(Yicai Global) Sept. 18 -- Fengyuan Lithium Energy Technology, a Chinese supplier of materials used in new energy vehicle batteries, has commenced trial production on the first production line for lithium-ion battery ternary cathode at its facility in Zaozhuang in the country's eastern Shandong province.

The firm has completed equipment installation and debugging for the line which boasts an expected annual capacity of 1,000 tons, parent company Fengyuan Chemical said in a statement.

Fengyuan tapped equipment makers from Japan, South Korea and China to supply hardware for the facility, which entailed a total investment of CNY196 million (USD28 million). Once all production lines are complete annual capacity is expected to reach 5,000 tons.
